Before buying a collectible: a practical checklist

Match the listing to its photographs, check any certification record, and confirm stock and transaction terms before paying. A grade or certificate is not an investment guarantee.

Does the photograph show the exact item?

Compare both sides, the year, denomination, mint marks and serial number. Ask for additional photographs when details are unclear. Inspect packaging and holder labels separately from the coin or note.

Does the certification number match?

Use the grading service’s own verification tool: PCGS, NGC or PMG. Compare the number, description and available images. A matching database entry alone does not prove a holder or item is genuine.

Is condition described clearly?

Look for disclosed cleaning, damage, repairs and grading qualifiers. Resolve discrepancies between photographs and written descriptions before purchase.

Is the item available?

Inventory can change. The storefront checks availability before adding to cart and again during checkout. A search result does not reserve an item.

What will the order cost?

Review the checkout total, taxes and shipping. Read the current payment, shipping and return policy. Ask about insurance or special handling before paying.

Can I arrange an in-person review?

Contact CBG COIN to confirm an item and arrange a visit at Unit 70, 8360 Kennedy Rd, Unionville, Ontario. Confirm hours before travelling.
